Full Size Wine Barrels
Wine barrels unlike whiskey barrels are made from the heart wood of the Oak tree. Heart wood is harder and denser than the wood used in whiskey barrels and has no imperfections such as knots in the wood. The heart wood of the Oak tree is known for its unique appearance and beautiful burl texture. Wine barrels use Oak heart wood because of its density and how hard it is; ensuring the wine product does not become tainted with oxygen exposure.
Unlike whiskey barrels which are charred on the inside, wine barrels are either given a smoked finish or left as virgin Oak. Over the course of the wine production process, the inside of wine barrels will take on the colours of the wine stored within them. The colour on the inside of a wine barrel can vary drastically depending on the type of wine being stored; ranging from deep burgundies to vibrant golds and tans.

We currently have a limited supply of barrels, Russia has stopped the export of their oak to Europe which is affecting barrel pricing.
All of our wine barrels are stored inside unlike our competitors and as such, have not been weathered.
